Dr Vanessa Webb
Medical Director and Head of Research
Vanessa is dual qualified as a Nurse and Doctor. Over the past 10 years, Vanessa has provided police and sexual offence healthcare services in over 20 difference Police Forces. She has also been awarded with an honorary Professorship by Staffordshire University for her years of voluntary service in advancing and developing the practice of forensic healthcare professionals in both custody and sexual offence. This amazing accolade confirms Vanessa's status as a leading figure in SARC and custody provision.
Gary Green
Business Development & Commercial Compliance Director
Gary was one of the original co-founders of Mountain Healthcare, and helped to establish the business in its early days. Prior to this, Gary successfully graduated from the University of Nottingham with a 1st Class Engineering degree, and supported the setup of various other healthcare companies, including ‘Essex Medical’ which won him the National Shell Technology Enterprise Programme award in 2006 for the Quality Systems he set up. Gary then went on to work at a senior level within a FTSE 100 company, for approximately 7 years, before focusing back on Mountain Healthcare. Gary has used his commercial and operational experience to develop Mountain Healthcare into a successful, flourishing business. He demonstrates a real commitment to the provision of sexual offence and custody healthcare, and works hard to ensure Mountain Healthcare delivers the best possible standard of service across the industry.
Dr Kate Shardlow
Associate Medical Director (Clinical Governance & Named Doctor For Safeguarding)
Kate joined the senior Mountain Healthcare team in August 2016. She has worked as a Sexual Offence Examiner for many years, and has combined this with a career in General Practice and Genitourinary Medicine.
Dr Lucy Love
Associate Medical Director (Diversification, Third Sector Support, and Senior Mentor)
Lucy has been a Director for Mountain Healthcare since January 2016, supporting the Medical Director, and has specialised in sexual offence examinations and the evaluation of child sexual abuse. Through her work with survivors of child sexual abuse, she has recognised the importance of resilience training, not just to assist the child survivors, but also to combat burn out and vicarious trauma in doctors, nurses and SARC staff. Lucy will be leading the development of Resilience Programmes for Mountain Healthcare. She has 20 years experience in sexual offence medicine, and alongside Professor Webb, Lucy pioneered the training of Forensic Nurse Examiners, contributing to Mountain Healthcare’s successful Nurse training programme. Lucy has previously worked in the sexual health clinics for 30 years, and continues to work for the NHS as a Psychosexual Therapist. Lucy enjoys contributing to training and update days for doctors and Nurses and, alongside her husband (who is a Barrister), providing a Courtroom Skills training module. Lucy has published numerous scientific papers on forensic and psychosexual medicine, and has presented her work at international conferences. Lucy is also the Lead Examiner for the LFFLM and was the runner up (highly commended) in the 1st English Women of the Year Awards 2018.
Dr Ewa Wolska
Associate Medical Director (Medical Staffing, Revalidation and Expert Opinion)
Dr Ewa Wolska is our Clinical Director, overseeing Health and Justice requirements which encompasses our Custody Healthcare provision. Ewa qualified as a Doctor of Medicine in 2000, and holds a Diploma in Forensic Medicine, a Ph.D for Philosophy in Forensic Medicine, and a Certificate in Postgraduate Professional Development in Forensic Medicine. Ewa has been a Forensic Medical Examiner since 2010 and has also previously worked as a Forensic Pathologist. She is the author and co-author of over 20 studies and researches, published in medical journals, and has performed over 3000 autopsies and medical examinations in criminal cases of both males and females, including victims, suspects, children, adolescents and adults.
Paul Jennings
Director (Contract Compliance & Mobilisation Support)
Paul completed a career with Wiltshire Constabulary, serving in a broad range of Detective posts. During his career, he led several different departments, including; Sex and Dangerous Offenders, Child Protection, Vulnerable Adults, Domestic Violence, Force Surveillance, and Serious Crime. He was also Force Lead for the planning, development, and opening of the Wiltshire SARC. It was Paul’s management of the SARC that introduced him to Mountain Healthcare Ltd. On retirement from the Police in 2008, he joined staff at Mountain Healthcare, with the common desire to build the best forensic medical service in the UK.
Jac Burnett
Director of Nursing (Custody and National Contract Manager for Custodial Healthcare)
Jacqui leads healthcare provision across the Mountain Healthcare custody contracts. Jacqui is a qualified Nurse, with over 16 years experience in acute medicine and emergency care. She has held Matron roles within the NHS, and has a passion for Governance and Safeguarding.
Claire Morrisey
Director (Education & Continuing Professional Development)
Claire is the Education and Clinical Practice Matron for Mountain Healthcare and joined the team on the first day of our contract in Thames Valley Police. Claire joined MHL on return from a deployment to Afghanistan, wanting a challenge! She has worked in a wide range of nursing specialties during her nursing career, but primarily within the Emergency Department and she has a particular interest in trauma. Claire believes passionately in learning, and the importance of solid evidence based practice. She teaches nationally as an ALS instructor for the Resus Council, and as a BATLS instructor for the military. Claire is also a national EMSB burns coordinator. She enjoys all aspects of education but her happiest days are still those being clinical and on the shop floor.
James Westwood
Director (Integration & Collaboration, and Southern Contract Manager)
James spent five years with Sussex Constabulary, based in Brighton and Hove, in predominately a Uniformed Response Officer Role. During his career, he was also a Sexual Offences Liaison Officer (SOLO) in which he was the first point of contact for sexual violence victims reporting incidence to the Police. On leaving Sussex in 2007, he joined West Sussex County Council, working for Worth Services, a nationally accredited Domestic and Sexual Violence Service. In his time working with Worth he took on a number of roles including the setting up and running of an innovative complex case team, which was responsible for supporting the most at risk and vulnerable victims. James also spent 18 months as the Manager of the Sussex SARC prior to being taken over by Mountain Healthcare. James spent the last year of his time with Worth Services managing their Sexual and Domestic Violence team within the Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) in West Sussex, prior to joining Mountain Healthcare in May 2017.
Emelia Spencer
Director of Nursing (Adult Sexual Offence & Allied Services, and Norther Contract Manager)
Emelia has been with Mountain Healthcare since April 2016, when the Yorkshire and Humberside contract commenced. Prior to joining the team, Emelia had worked in Primary Care, gaining a wealth of Public Health and Operations Management experience. Emelia has always been interested in the forensic industry, and combines her previous qualifications and experience to successfully lead sexual offence forensic services across Yorkshire and Humberside.
Lou Hagger
Director of Nursing (Child & Young Person Services, Executive Lead of Safeguarding, and Eastern Region Contract Manager)
Louise was appointed to the role of Head of Healthcare for East Anglia in November 2016. She is also the Safeguarding Lead for Mountain Healthcare. Louise’s role includes overseeing the Sexual Assault Referral Centres, and ensuring a high-quality service is provided. She is also involved in the delivery of new pathways with other agencies, both statutory and non-statutory. She is a qualified Nurse and Midwife, and has spent the last 10 years working in the Safeguarding industry. She has previously worked as a Commissioner for Children and Maternity services within a Clinical Commissioning Group. Louise has a real passion for safeguarding, and particularly enjoys this element of her work.
Steve Tait
Director (Project Management)
Before taken on his Director role at Mountain Healthcare Ltd, Steve was a successful paramedic with over 20 years’ experience. Steve spent the past 12 years working in the field of forensic healthcare, and has a wealth of experience in the industry. As one of the first Healthcare Professionals to work in custody he has been involved in successfully designing and delivering training for the sector. He now works with the Senior Leadership Team to create innovative solutions for our client, customers, and wider workforce.
