As you’ll have seen in the news, there have been significant changes in the Government guidance for the general public in relation to Covid-19 and managing its potential spread. Guidance is changing very quickly, but in summary, the advice now suggests:
Anyone who lives with the symptomatic individual should self-isolate for 14 days from the time that the first person in the household showed symptoms.
As you’ll have seen in the news, there have been significant changes in the Government guidance for the general public in relation to Covid-19 and managing its potential spread. Guidance is changing very quickly, but in summary, the advice now suggests:
- If an individual shows symptoms, they should self-isolate for a minimum of seven days until they are entirely symptom free. The most common symptoms are the recent onset of:
- new continuous cough and/or
- high temperature
- After 7 days and when they are entirely symptom free, they are okay to go back to their normal routine. Please note: the cough may persist for several weeks in some people, despite the Coronavirus infection having cleared. A persistent cough alone does not mean someone must continue to self-isolate for more than 7 days.
Anyone who lives with the symptomatic individual should self-isolate for 14 days from the time that the first person in the household showed symptoms.
- Anyone in the household who doesn’t develop symptoms and who remains well after 14 days can end their self-isolation.
- If anyone in the household develops symptoms during that 14 period, they should self-isolate for 7 days from the point that they developed symptoms.
- If the symptoms of any in the household get worse or if they haven’t improved after 7 days then they should seek medical attention or consult NHS 111 Online.
