First-Class Training Programmes.

First class training and development are integral to the delivery of a safe and effective, high quality service for our clients and service users. We believe that investing in our staff, by enabling and supporting them to develop their skills, is hugely important. Access to support and regular learning opportunities enables our staff to feel valued and happy in their roles, which is reflected in the high quality care they provide.

At Mountain Healthcare, we model our training for clinical staff on 'Benner’s Stages of Clinical Competence', taking employees from ‘Novice’ to ‘Expert’ with a rolling programme of blended learning. This begins with induction, shadowing and mentoring for each member of staff, whilst they work towards signing off the relevant competencies for their role. Ongoing training to support their Continuing Professional Development allows staff to progress their skills, knowledge and understanding of their role in the dynamic world of forensic medicine. We deliver a blended programme of education, with both face-to-face training – ranging from conferences and competency days, to one-to-one mentoring sessions, to e-learning delivered through our bespoke training platform, The Hub.

Development of leadership skills is also an important element of the training provided at Mountain Healthcare. We offer an in-house Leadership Programme, with the opportunity to attend our Leadership Camp each year, helping our current and future leaders flourish.

Non-clinical roles also receive bespoke programmes of training, to support and develop each individual according to their role. This includes attendance at many of the events available to our practitioners, funding for relevant outside courses and conferences, in addition to allocated mentors.

Each year, Mountain Healthcare offers funding opportunities for staff to undertake Higher Educational Awards, such as; the Approved Standards for Education and Training in Forensic Practice (ASET), or the Diploma in the Forensic and Clinical Aspects of Sexual Assault (
DFCASA). Shorter courses, which are seen as relevant to the role or of benefit to the service, can also be applied for through the same process.

Mountain Healthcare is also a member of the Health and Justice Trailblazer, which is developing the National Standards for roles within the Criminal Justice System. This will enable access to funding opportunities for our staff undertaking approved vocational ‘apprenticeships’ and training.

Our employees are made aware of all appropriate training opportunities via Management, Internal Communications, or The MHL Hub.
